Hidden Beauty in abandoned World Of Warcraft cities

Unknown

City, nor that so quickly and did not appear as quickly damped as American cities. From the Gold Rush boom towns before dawn Detroit and its decline with the automotive industry (only one of the reasons), and the story is always the same: people go to where they hope to make money. When running out of money and work, some are due to the attachment - they want to see the revival of their home. Many simply have nowhere to go. However, considering the whole population moves to a new city opportunities wherever he was.
World of Warcraft
This phenomenon took place in the World of Wracraft repeatedly. When the game first opened its spaces for the masses in 2004, the two opposing factions the Alliance and the Horde had three major cities. These cities were centers of digital life. People came here for a meeting with the coaches, trade things, visiting the bank, create guilds and many other reasons. The capital of each fraction was especially popular. It was a home for special quests and additional opportunities to move attracting hundreds of players again and again.

However, this overcrowding has a negative effect on the game - slowing. Fortunately, in WoW were quieter town to avoid the crowds. For example, waiting for friends to look out for them there is no need of a crowd of other characters, no lag also a great help in this. However, there were more abstract pleasures such as crafting things in silence or with several other blacksmiths also concentrated or alchemists.

WoW if necessary gives enough opportunities to feel alone. One of the prime features allows you to type "/ who" chatting to display all the players in the region. If you are in an area where veterans kill mobs hoping to get some equipment, there will always be a lot of people. Embark on an area that is common to young players and it is very possible that people will not be here at all, especially if you are not playing at peak hours.

When Blizzard, developer and publisher of World of Warcraft, released the first expansion The Burning Crusade, the world of games were introduced three new cities. Shattrath (Shattrath City) became a city where the players of the Horde and Alliance could be together without the risk of violence (fight with other players has been banned in the territory). But more importantly, Shattrath had on its territory a number of the leading portals to all major cities in the world. This place represents a kind of central station, in fact the game became a center of civilization.

Other new cities such had no success. Supplement presented two new races - the Blood Elves and Draenei get your own city. Both are very interesting. Exodar - draenei capital, crystal spaceship and tall, elegant bashi Silvermoon - the capital of the blood elves. At first, life in these cities was in full swing when a crowd of people rushed to build their new characters and explore new possibilities, but soon all those people left their homeland and most of them never returned.

It is ideally preserved digital space, parks and recreation. And unlike Detroit, there are no physical signs of neglect. However, these towns were created taking into account the hundreds of active players, whereas now you can go without seeing a single one. Controlled game characters - NPC gladly become your coach and help get rid of unnecessary things, but these cities felt abandoned.

However, I still visit these places. Emptiness seems appropriate in a city like Silvermoon. I can imagine how arrogant Blood Elves are not particularly friendly towards all other races visiting their capital. Sometimes, when I see another player, almost always it will be another elf. Perhaps they are attracted by the beauty of this place. Without distracting the players you may notice details such as a broom cleaning the place yourself or golems patrolling the streets. These are the things which make the city beautiful and magical - and a little intimidating. It is sad that so few people appreciate the beauty of the city, on the other hand no one interferes around.

Insulation depends on the context. Like waiting tranquility traveling along the forest path, very natural traveling the world single player not meet any other player. However, in WoW you get used to other people around you - flying on mounts, galloping on horseback or attacking the same monster that you are.

In the context of WoW is a quasi-urban. Game here descent from being in the city. The first people moved to the cities lost their self-sufficiency of family farms received a number of other advantages urban economy. Similarly, in multiplayer games that do not expect that you are going to do all along the way saving the world. Players are constantly coming together to fulfill challenging quests they tell friends about the appearance of a rare monster, they joke chatting. Therefore, while one in WoW, a feeling of danger. You are left alone against the world without the support of others if the fight goes as planned.

With the release of the second add-on for World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King, the popularity of Shattrath damped. New major city and center of activity is the Dalaran. Today, Shattrath become nothing more than a stop for the characters is pumped from 60 to level 70. Blizzard tried to break this cycle and to attract players to the original territories with the release of Cataclysm change many areas and adding new quests and content to the most vacant properties which are new to the pursuit of a new level of even heard of. New quests have attracted crowds of becoming something of a makeover in the world.

However, these attempts to add new blood did not affect the Exodar and Silvermoon. In fact, the city became more and more active. Cataclysm introduced into the original world of opportunity to fly without having to use griffins as public transport. However, the city remained without this feature. Since then, when the game was presented with new races, Blizzard did not create them for individual cities - a clear admission of defeat.

And the cycle repeated with addition as Mists of Pandaria, and there is no doubt that the Warlords of Draenor also help restore life in the forgotten city World of Warcraft.
